2. ACCOMMODATIONS & FACILITIES

Kusu Island Resort has 8 ocean villas, restaurant, dive center, water sport center, 2 jetty and spa. The spacious 72 square meter villas are built on stilts over the ocean, with open living and cozy sleeping area, bathroom and a very spacious deck with your very own access to the sea. The breathtaking underwater world surrounding Kusu Island is only a few fin kicks away! You can take a dip in and enjoy the magnificent ocean view all in complete privacy.

The furniture is made from sustainable materials such as driftwood and our love for detail, each villa is unique. Each villa has a king-sized bed or alternative twin beds, mosquito net, wardrobe, desk, and sitting corner with coffee table. All villas are equipped with air-conditioning, 2 round pin European 220V power sockets, mini fridge, and safety box. The bathroom is equipped with a hot water Balinese style shower, biodegradable body wash, shampoo, conditioner, bath and beach towels. We provide sim cards for personal Internet access at our reception (2GB per week/per room).

The restaurant is also built by the sea and has a glass facade that can be fully opened, to enjoy the magnificent sea view from all angles. The cuisine with Indonesian and international specialties invites you to enjoy each meal with all your senses.

The relax area of our restaurant, equipped with comfortable couches and coffee tables is open to you all day. It is the ideal spot to enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, or a cocktail while gazing at the ocean and the little black tip reef sharks swimming by.

Meals are served three times a day. Afternoon tea is served with fresh baked delicacies. Coffee, tea, and fresh fruit are available to our guests any time of the day. For special dietary requirements, get in touch with us ahead and we will do our best to meet your every wish and need.

The dive & water sport center is conveniently located at the end of the jetty with easy access to our magnificent house reef by our speed boat. It features a camera room, personal equipment storage area, in and outdoor relaxing area, a small shop section for souvenirs, 4 fresh water wash basins, cold showers, and toilets.

Ask our friendly staff and they will serve you chilled drinks and snacks. When joining our boat trip we provide you with your personal water bottle and towels for the day. A limited amount of snorkeling and diving rental equipment is available. Kindly reserve the required equipment at time of booking.

3. RESORT ACTIVITIES

SSI & PADI dive courses are available on request. To ensure our dive instructors are available please inform us at time of booking. Kayaking in local wooden boats will be a experience with a lot of fun. Spa & wellness treatment is available and you can relax and enjoy the treatment in the privacy of your room or on your spacious deck. Other activities like bird or butterfly watching tours, visit to local market including the sights of Labuha and surroundings villages are available on request.

5. HOW TO GET THERE

Although Kusu Island is in a remote area, it is ease accessible. International flights to Jakarta or Manado connect via Ternate to Labuha where we welcome you. 20 minutes car ride and 40 minutes by our speed boat will bring you to Kusu Island Resort. Once you are here our friendly staff will serve you a welcome drink before guiding you to your villa.

6. BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

Kusu Island is a year-round destination because Kusu our island resort is near to equator. Weather and sea conditions are fairly constant throughout the year with a wet season in the months of November to March.

Stay at the Sali Bay Resort, in the north of the Moluccas, an excellent resort with beautiful diving for both macro and pelagic (there are a lot of black and white tip sharks). The beauty of this area is that there are no other structures in the area of ​​tens of kilometers, so the dives are always “exclusive”. The resort is located on the small island of Sali (hence the name) which is located in the strait between the islands of Bacan and Halmahera, a region still uncovered for the diving in Indonesia. The balance of the total fare (100%) is required at least 30 days prior to guest arrival.

Be aware that only cash payments are accepted for local extras.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be received in writing. The refund or cancellation charges that will be payable depending on the amount of notice you give us, as per the below:

• 30 days – 15 days = 30% cancellation charge
• 15 – 5 days = 50% cancellation charge
• 5 – 0 days = 100% of total fare

Any refunds outside of these terms will be subject to a claim on your Insurance Company and we are happy to write you a letter, which you can give to your insurer as proof of your loss, though we cannot be held accountable if your claim is rejected for whatever reason.

5. HOW TO GET THERE

Sali Bay Dive Resort sits on the lush island of Sali Kecil, a tiny and exclusive private island located in front of the Southwest coast of Halmahera in the Northern Moluccas.

Labuha Airport (Airport code LAH) caters 1 hour 45 minutes flights from Manado (MDC), easily reached by Singapore Airlines. Other way to get Labuha is from Jakarta (Airport code CGK) via Ternate (Airport code TTE). Once in Labuha Airport a short ride in car and boat (30+30 minutes) separates you from paradise.

We are happy to help our guests in arranging local car/boat transfers. We can help you get to the resort and into your vacation as quick as possible. And of course we can organize your flight itinerary with the best Indonesian market price!

Depending on the connection, it may be necessary to plan an overnight stay in Manado or Ternate. RESERVE SALI BAY

Metita is the last island on the southern tip of Morotai in northern Halmahera, which in July 2022 went from being an uninhabited island to becoming the home of Metita Beach & Dive Resort. Our island resort is about 900 per 450 meters and can be walked around it perimeter in about 45 minutes. A fantastic fringing reef offers excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities right on your doorstep. The most popular dive site, Blacktip Point, is located about 500m away on the north coast of the island.

2. ACCOMMODATIONS & FACILITIES

The construction of the Metita Beach & Dive Resort have been divide into 3 phases: in the first phase, two hectares of our land and have generously distributed the main building with restaurant, bar, office and kitchen wing, the in-house dive center and compressor house, the spa, accommodation for the employees, the supply building and currently six unique bungalows. In the second phase, more bungalows are planned and also an event pavilion for workshops, yoga and cinema evenings as well as a pizzeria and BBQ pavilion. In the third phase, further bungalows can follow.

The complete layout of the resort, which is located on the south-west side of Metita, faces west, so that our guests can enjoy the sunset not only from the pool or the beach, but also from their own bungalow terrace. The individual cottages are built at a reasonable distance from each other and ensure privacy for all guests.

Metita Resort offers comfortable bungalows in close proximity to the beach and a view of paradise. Our guests can choose from 1 Family Cottage with 103m2, 4 Double Beach Cottages with 58m2 or 1 Twin Beach Cottage with 58m2.

Bungalows & Cottages

Metita Beach & Dive Resort has 3 categories of bungalow: Double Beach Bungalow, Twin Beach Bungalow and the Family Garden Cottage.

The Family Garden Cottage is 103 sqm. One bedroom with double king size bed and air conditioning. A second bedroom with two twin beds and fan. Open-air bathrooms with freshwater rainfall showers and separated wc. Furnished with desk, lounge, minibar, music station, walk-in closet. 28 sqm terrace with seating and hammock.

Our double and twin bungalows are located directly along the beach and are available in two versions, either with a terrace facing the front of the beach or with a terrace on the side and uninterrupted views of the sea from the bedroom. The Double Beach Cottage and Twin Beach Cottage offers the following amenities: 57-58 sqm total size. Bedroom with double king-size bed or two twin beds. Air conditioning. Open-air bathrooms with freshwater rainfall showers and separated wc. Furnished with desk, lounge, minibar, music station, walk-in closet. 14-15 sqm terrace with seating and hammock.

Restaurant

Our culinary offer leaves nothing to be desired. Lunch and dinner are freshly prepared daily as a three-course menu, whereby guests can choose in advance from a menu according to their individual wishes and needs. Breakfast is served as an extensive buffet – with homemade bread, fruits from our own garden, smoothies and fruit bowls, among others. Through our in-house kitchen garden and the cooperation with local, sustainable fishermen and farmers, our culinary offer is largely organic in order to meet the high standards of our guests and to ensure their well-being. There is also a spacious lounge and pool area with a bar, sofas and pool table outside of meals. Thus, the resort is also suitable for unique friends and family celebrations, weddings, honeymoon, etc. where we are happy to support our guests with an individual travel design.

Dive Center & Camera Room

Located on the main building is our 100 sqm in-house dive center, with a spacious 40 sqm drying room that offers individual compartments for each diver, a fan and the open wooden structure of the walls guarantee good ventilation. There is a separate room for our brand new rental equipment from Mares. Besides ABCs, wetsuits, BCDs and regulators, dive computers and lamps that can also be rented here. To keep everything in good shape, there is our own small workshop where our equipment is professionally maintained. Here is also the compressor house. As a treat for the photographers and videographers among us, we have set up an air-conditioned camera room that offers individual camera stations with bright lamps, multiple sockets for charging and a tray for storing small parts. A specially installed diving cylinder can be used to dry housings and lamps. The dives are done from our 3 speedboats equipped with 2×100 Hp engines, toilet and freshwater shower.

Spa & Wellness

Our private spa is located in the wooded part of the resort, where the pretty gazebo playfully winds around a fish pond with a stream, which accompanies the massages with a pleasant splash. Our trained masseurs only use high-quality natural products.

The small natural jewel of Metita Island offers the best starting point for a paradisiacal beach holiday under palm trees: diverse dive sites with big fish, macro and wrecks, a seemingly endless house reef, lonely line-ups for surfers on the waves of Morotai, which are considered an insider tip. And due to the fact we are surrounded by pristine nature and biodiversity with rainforests, waterfalls, volcanoes and numerous tropical animal species, wildlife excursions are a must.

Scuba Diving & UW Photography

The North Moluccas, especially Halmahera, is the absolute insider tip among many divers. The Morotai region is one of the world’s most species-rich underwater landscapes for the microworld and large fish in the midst of colorful coral gardens. Only a little over a dozen dive sites are known and new ones are added regularly. Our guests are welcome to go on a journey of discovery with our experienced dive and boat crew and explore untouched underwater worlds. We invite our guests to share with us the privilege of exploring new dive sites and then giving the place its own name.

Just off Metita is one of the area’s most popular dive sites with an extended family of blacktip reef sharks. The Second World War left a considerable number of wrecks in the area, from jeeps to airplanes to cargo ships. As a further special feature, Halmahera homes its own endemic walking shark, Hemiscyllium Halmahera, a small shark specie discovered in 2013, whose specialty is to walk on the pectoral fins. In addition, the entire region is known for its macro diversity and is therefore particularly popular with underwater photographers.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling fans will get their money’s worth directly on our house reef. The reef plateau stretches about 100m out into the sea in front of the Metita Resort and offers beautiful coral gardens and a colorful drop-off in the shallower area, where large fish such as reef sharks and turtles are not uncommon. Snorkelers are welcome to take a seat on the dive boats at any time, as long as the dive sites offer good snorkeling opportunities. Otherwise, on request, our dive boats are also available for a private snorkeling tour or you can go together in search of every small and large seagrass meadow with its inhabitants, the dugongs, an encounter that is hardly granted to any diver, as the leisurely giants usually stay in shallower waters.

Surfing

In the winter months, around November to March, Morotai offers some hidden excellent surfing opportunities with empty line-ups. The better known ones are in the north and north-east of the island, but the best wave, an ultimate insider tip, is only about 45 minutes by boat from Metita. Since we are in the fortunate position of being the first European-run resort in South Morotai, there is currently little material to fall back on. Therefore, we are allowed to explore Morotai and its landscapes together with our guests and discover unknown places on our tours in search of the perfect wave.

Sea & Land Excursions

Due to its location only ten minutes by boat from the main island of Morotai, special experiences open up for non-diving guests. High mountains inland, intersected by fascinating waterfalls and caves in the middle of a pristine jungle with colorful birds of paradise, such as the extraordinary hornbill with its huge yellow beak, whose females lock themselves in a hollow of a tree during breeding and can only be fed by their male through a hole, invite you to excursions. Day trips to various sights of the region such as the numerous volcanoes, such as the Dukon, near Tobelo and caves, as Popoguo on Morotai, are organized and accompanied by our team.

5. HOW TO GET THERE

There are two ways to get to Metita Beach & Dive Resort, from your home airport with a stopover, usually in Singapore, to Manado and on to the destination airport Pitu on Morotai. The connection from Manado to Morotai includes a 25-minute stopover in Ternate on some flights. Also from your home airport with a stopover, in Jakarta or Bali, to Ternate and on to the destination airport Pitu on Morotai. Depending on the connection, it may be necessary to plan an overnight stay in Manado or Ternate. Metita resort high season runs from June 1st to September 30, and the low season runs from October 1st till May 31.
